I have just finished my first set of puppy training classes. I was certain before the first class my dog would be needing all of the help, by the last class I think I got more out of it than her. I learned several key points in having a new puppy, and here are just a few:
1)Speak in your "happy" voice. This was a technique I had to learn, not the dog. Who knew when I am running late and the dog is in the neighbors yard that she would not want to come to me if I was screaming in an angry tone for her to, "GET OVER HERE NOW!" Happy voice, relaxed posture, and here she comes.... much better.
2) Your dog needs a leader, much better on the back, arms and mind if we walk down the street together, instead of my mini horse pulling me all the way home.
3)Dog training classes are worth every penny. We know more now than we ever would have if we just relied on our knowlege of training a dog (which was none). The jumping, mouthing, potty training, and family time with Sparkles has definately improved. With these classes I am able to speak in my "happy" voice much more, my husband thanks you, Peter.

Keep up the good work.
